Burn on face after IPL treatment

I had my third IPL treatment done on my face 2 days ago from which I have burned, darkened areas all over my face, especially on one side of my face.  I responded well to the first 2 IPL sessions, without any adverse effects besides min redness lasting less than a day.  The dermatologist said he was increasing the intensity this time but never warned me of burns/damaged skin.  After the treatment I experienced pain and burning, for which he gave me cold packs and when I expressed my concern about the darkened areas/burn marks on my face he told my "it's not too bad" after looking at it and suggested I put on vaseline at home and sun protection when outdoors.  He then said we would try bleaching agents next week to make sure these areas on my face dont hyperpigment.  I am very worried as the reason for the treatment was acne scars, but now my face looks horrible.  I cant even face anyone.  I need to know if this will clear up.

my sincere advice to u is to stop ruing your face by the stupid doctors. they just make  our faces a hell for sake of  ********.
I am also one such case. two years have passed and my face has not yet correscted. i have had a lot of diseases on my since then. dear lets not go in my story. cries and cries since many years are with me. but i have felt better in 6 months by a treratment given to me bu a dermatologist. i advice u to take it into consideration by asking from ur dermotologist.
Use Oilatum Cream and Oilatum bar

method is wash ur face with oilatum bar and apply cream thorougly on face after wash once in the morning.
