Burn on the Penis Shaft

Burn on the Penis Shaft

Hi, I was burnt with boiling water on the penis shaft. It looks like the epidermis skin layer is gone & the dermis is ok. It looks like some of the  epidermis is returning with color. My question is if the epidermis layers are destroyed but the dermis is ok will the epidermis regenerate back to some what normal? I made a appointment with a Urologist but can't get in to july. Thanks

Hi

The skin is composed of several layers and the epidermis itself is made up of five distinct layers, each with its own structures and functions. The stratum basale is responsible for skin regeneration. The dermis is responsible for providing sensation and nourishment to the skin. The skin will grow back for as long as the basal layer of the epidermis and the dermis are intact. I suggest that you have this assessed by your doctor. The degree and the extent of the burn has to be determined prior to proper management.
