Can Canker Sore Trigger a Cold Sore Outbreak?

Hi there. I appreciate the feedback from the forum, especially from those in the medical community. I have had some canker sores just inside my lip, closer to the gums, and at the gumline as well. The one that is just inside the lip hurts like the dickens and is slow to heal ( a good week now). My question relates to this particular ulcer. Can this canker, just inside the lip become a cold sore? Where the red and angry outline creeps out into the more visible lipe area, just keeps giving me that "old familiar" feeling- the itchies and tinglies. Could it be a cold sore on the horizon? The skin just healing? Or completely coincidental?
Thanks, Americana_Mama
