Can you help me indentify a strange rash.

I developed a skin disorder approximately 10 months ago. I first noticed a hive like rash on my ankles which has been intermittent for the last 10 months. The doctor prescribed a topical and oral cortisone which seemed to make the hives worse. I began to develop areas on my which were scaling/scabby almost round. The lesions started on the upper portion of my buttocks. The lesions would begin to heal in a few days. The lesions would usually heal in the center first and cause a ring. The lesions would leave a scar that would last a few weeks. The lesions will go away and reappear on other parts the body. Doral areas of the upper legs and arms. The lesions have continue for approximately 10 months. I was hoping you might have some idea what this could. I have no other symptoms present. I have a thyroid test which was normal.

I'm afraid I can't tell you without seeing it.  This could conceivably be a form of eczema or perhaps a fungus infection, but these are just wild guesses.  You should see a skin doctor, who may want to perform a test such as a skin biopsy.  On the other hand, he or she may be able to tell what it is just by looking.  After all these months, you really owe it to yourself to have this looked at as soon as you can arrange it.

Best.
