Cevric Dermatitus?

by g180, Jan 01, 2009 09:38PM
For the past few years I've been developing redness on + under my nose, under the eyes, under my mouth, and all over my neck. The Dermatologist says I have Cevric Dermatitus, which is genetic and that there is no cure. They said all I can do is use the medicine they've prescribed me in hopes that it cuts down the frequency of flare ups. Is this true... is there really nothing else I can do?  I'm a 21 year old musician for a living, and am willing to do anything to get rid of this problem. Are there alternatives to these medicines, which seem to work sometimes at best? Can eating certain foods, or doing certain organic skin treatments help this? I'm open to all suggestions. I'm very worried that this condition might lead to scaring, and all I want is to have the pictures of my youth not be me with a red and irritated face. Someone help me? You really will be a lifesaver.

Here are the prescription medications I'm on:

Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion - for after shaving / use every morning
Differein Cream - for Acne / daily as needed
Desonide Cream (steriod) - for use when flare ups occur until they go down.
Ketoconazole Shampoo 2% - wash hair + face with this every other day. On alternate days wash hair w/ Head&Shoulders Selenium Sulfide Dandruff + Seborrheic Dermatitus Shampoo (over the counter).
