Cherry angioma

by TTAA, Jul 01, 2008 11:43PM
Hello I am a 25yr old female and I think I may have cherry angiomas, from pictures and some research I have done. I am concerned because I have many of them, (more than 20 tiny ones, just on my outer, upper, left arm) and they are all on my arms. Also I am concerned because everything I have read suggest I am too young to be getting these, and I also read that sometimes they can mean there is some internal malignancy. I started getting them about 2 or 3 years ago, but had only about a handful, and I have recently noticed I am getting many many more. Most are very tiny but a few are the size of a pin, and they are all bright red. What I want to know is if this can be normal, or if I should get i need to be concerned and go to a doctor.

Hi

Firstly, you need a complete physical assessment to ascertain if these are indeed cherry angiomas. If these are cherry angioms aand they seem to increase in  numbers then you may need to be further evaluated. It is best to have this assessed early on.  I do understand your point here, as you are only 25. If this occurs in the older age group then this skin condition may not need further assessment or intervention. Other differentials will include bleeding disorders, dermatitis, allergic reactions or insect bites. However, you have not noted other associated symptoms like nose bleed or gum bleed. A skin biopsy may be able to help ascertain the diagnosis.

Hello I am a 24yr old Male and I also have many Cherry Angioma's.  Many small one's (around 15-20) on each arm and a few larger ones on my torso.  I have read many articles and you are correct, the youngest i've heard of these to appear are in the early 30's.  I have also read that a sudden appearance of many can mean an internal malignancy, and I've only started noticing these about a year or two ago.  I am extremely worried. Has anyone else had a similar experience?  What did you do?
