Chicken Pox Scars

by ben_legend, Jul 22, 2008 06:43PM
At the age of around 6 I had chicken pox. I am now 14 and
ever since I had pox there has been some yellowish/white scars left behind. In total there are 5, all on my chest. They are all ovals/circles and on average 1 cm by 0.5 cm. They do not itch. I was wondering if there is any way to cure/get rid of these?

Hi

Chicken pox scars are quite persistent, that is they may not be readily removed. The scars especially the larger ones may stay for years or even for a lifetime. Microdermabrasion or laser therapy may help but the results are inconclusive. I know this bothers you but being too aggressive in trying to rid of these scars may only further irritate the skin.

Apply generous amounts of moisturizer eg vitamin E cream on the area. This may minimize the scarring and may help smoothen the area but will not readily revert skin to normal.

Thank you I have decided to go to the doctors and have it checked and see if they give me some vitamin e cream like you said.
