Chicken Pox after 2.5 weeks

Chicken Pox after 2.5 weeks

My four year old had the chicken pox vaccine follow up and shot and now has a mild case of chicken pox.  However she is still turning up new spots on her back and waist even though her first blisters showed up roughly 2.5 weeks ago.  Her symptoms otherwise have been mild.  Roughly 20-30 spots in all.  Is this normal?  Her doctor saw no trouble with the spots when initially diagnosed over two weeks ago.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

It is not common, but it is possible to see new varicella related skin lesions after two weeks of initial ones. However, it is important to make sure that those lesions are not caused by something else (insect bite, skin infection, etc.). It would be useful to schedule a follow-up visit with your physician and eliminate any dilemmas, especially if there are other symptoms (objective and/or subjective) to report.
