Chronic Skin Infection in Groin Region

Chronic Skin Infection in Groin Region

I've had on-going issues with a irritations and related burning sensations on scrotum, leg creases and anal region since early July. First identified by Dr as a yeast infection and given Nystatin creme. Ten days later no improvement of symptoms, a fever developed and diagnosed/treated e-coli UTI (CIPROFLOXACN). Once UTI cleared, symptoms remained and a 2 weel oral fungal infection treatment (TERBINAFINE)was prescribed in late August. It's been a struggle determining the source and cleaning it up as it's now going on 4 months.

I am on Humira and Methotrexate due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, so there is some suppression of my immune system.

My question is whether the duration is consistent with a fungal skin infection or is it more likely related to the RA or other medications?

Burning sensations don't sound either fungal or immune-related.  The fact that oral terbinafine didn't help makes it even more likely that this isn't a fungal problem.  I can't see any connection with your urinary infection.  Eczema can cause irritation and burning sensations.  Perhaps you and your doctors may want to look into that possibility.

Take care.
