Clogged wax gland?

by snidekitty1, Aug 04, 2009 08:46AM
Hello--I have a spot on my anus.  It is white/flesh in color.  It is very soft, I have no pain from it.  I went for my annual exam at my gynocologist and I thought he said it was a clogged wax gland but I cannot find any information on clogged wax glands online.  I'm not sure if I misunderstood him or if possibly it could be something else.  He acted like it was fairly common and he said they can also appear on the labia.  Does anyone have any info reguarding this condition.  I'm still kind of worried because I cannot find any condition online that is similar to mine.  Any info would be appreciated!

To: snidekitty1,
Hello,
From the symptoms it can be a sebaceous cyst or infected sebaceous gland. A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac occurring just under the skin which contains a "pasty" or "cheesy" looking substance called keratin. Blocked sebaceous glands, swollen hair follicles and excessive testosterone production will cause such cysts.

Generally no treatment is required but they become painful then it means they are infected,Then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.I would suggest you to discuss this possibility with a dermatologist.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
