Cluster of very tiny black/dark brown spots on thumb

I'm not sure if this is fungus or skin cancer or a different type of rash, but I'm slightly concerned and incredibly curious. I don't want these things spreading. Could you please help me find an answer as to what this is?

An area of around 1/4 square centimeter on the left side of my right thumb has quite suddenly "grown" a cluster of about 25 brown/black spots as tiny as the tinies tip of a sharp pencil. I have no idea why they would appear, I've not done anything I can think of to make them appear, except perhaps that someone I share a bathroom with likely has fungus infested feet.

I'm not allergic to much except a weak allergy toward certain types of pollen. When I was an infant I also reacted badly to the combination of milk and fish in certain dishes.

I'm 26 and the only thing I've seen which resembles what I have currently is a wart, except there is no elevation in this case, and scraping the area doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas? I can't afford seeing the doc atm...

Hi ej2012, you are describing what's appeared on my thumb and side of index finger. Out of nowhere. Not sure if you can get it from the poles in the subway. Looking for answers. The small raise bump is a little sore if it's touched. I can't believe after searching on the net, I'm finally seeing a post that describes what it is.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Oh my God I have it too. It started off around the knuckle of my thumbs. I work with hot wax so I figured they were tiny burns because of the wax but they grew in size over a week nd now my arms have the tiniest of tiny blackish Brown dots. I am light Brown in complexion so I can't tell if they're black or Brown. If you found out what the condition is/was and have any idea about the treatment please tell me. I feel like they're spreading across my arm and it's worrying me a lot . :(

Thanks for the info doc.  But what you described doesn't make sense for what I am seeing.  These are not patches or blots or blotches, what I have are very small brown dots, size of a pinhead(maybe, they are very tiny).

They appear on my right index finger on the outside, pointing towards the thumb, one is raised, looks like a wart with a brown center.   Today, I found a cluster of these brown dots on my left hand, the skin has died in that area so I was able to scrape aways some of the dots, the others(maybe still 4-6 left in that area, I can't scrape off).   The ones on my index finger, I definitely can not remove.

Is this some kind of fungus?  Just doesn't make sense that these would be caused from the sun, especially since I am not in the sun very much.  I just turned 30 and I can say for sure these were not here 2 weeks ago, just noticed them today.

Please, don't confuse this with large spots, they are very tiny, almost wouldn't have noticed them if I didnt see the raised wart like one, which is very small itself, thats what kicked of this inspection of my hands.. really weird and freaking me out a bit.

cheers,

ej

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it can be contact dermatitis to the irritants or solar lentigenes. Sun spots or lentigines, are harmless, flat, brown discolorations of the skin which usually occur on the back of the hands, neck and face of people older than 40 years of age. They are caused by the skin being exposed to the sun over many years and are a sigh of sun damage. The only way to prevent age spots is to use liberal amounts of sunscreen before the age of forty, avoid the sun, and wear protective clothing. The newest treatment for age spots is an alpha hydroxy acid gel or beta hydroxy acid gel.  Retin-A cream, alpha hydroxyacid peels, and liquid nitrogen therapy are other options.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
