Concerned

So my wife was prescribed 4 months ago metronidazole when she got her annual. I am not circumcised.  My wife took 4 out of 7 days of the meds. Sex is painful for her now and after aggressive sex or masturbation I get what appears like red spots only under my foreskin.  Sometimes under my foreskin the red spots/dots are many or few, darker or lighter depending on the irritation from sex. The spots tingle/tender a little bit but otherwise go away after a day or two although after extremely rough sex may last a week. I also notice when it's irritated a naturally forming moisture exists under my foreskin. This has gone on and off for about 4 months. Is this herpes? Is it a bacterial infection that keeps resurfacing? Thank you for a response.

From the symptoms it looks like a fungal skin infection. Use some topical antimicrobials like Lotrimin. Also topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription. Your wife also needs to take the complete course of metronidazole.
