Confused about non-genital warts

Confused about non-genital warts

I am confused. I have heard two differing opinions on non-genital warts.

- I have heard that warts are very contagious and you could get them at the slightest contact with one, or if you touch a towel that someone with a wart touched.

vs.
- And then I have heard that warts aren’t really that contagious, and if they were, someone with a hand wart would spread it all over their body. “You don't need to worry about spreading them from hand top genital, or anywhere else for that matter.  If you could do that, you'd have them all over, but for some reason warts don;t behave that way.  Popping the blister is no problem either.  We generally don't attack warts surgically, because there's a greater chance of permanent scarring that way, and because warts are a virus, they often come back anyway.” Dr Alan Rockoff
________

- Then I have heard that once you have no visible signs of the wart anymore, that it is gone. “Our rule of thumb is that after visible warts have been absent for six months the infection causing them ins no longer present and transmissible to others.” Dr Edward Hook

vs.
- Then I have heard that the virus is always in your body and can return at any time, for no reason.

Any clarification would be appreciated! (I should probably post a question on the anxiety board since this stuff worries me so much! :))
