Contact/Allergic Dermatitis?

I posted a question on the STD forum under "Just Dermatitis?" on 6/24/06.  I will summarize what I asked Dr. HHH and ask for your oppinion.  I am a white 25 y/o male.

Early A.M. 6/3/06 I recieved unprotected oral sex from a woman.
All day 6/4/06 I worked on replacing a toilet and was in contact with a very strong industruial strength adhesive called "Liquid Nails" manufactured by Macco Adhesives.  The MSDS can be found by searching for "MSDS LN 601" on Yahoo. Washed hands after some contact, but mostly just wiped hands on my shorts.
Right before I went to bed on 6/5/06 I used this stuff again.  I don't remember if I washed my hands very well, but I do remember I masturbated before I went to sleep. I was also exposed to some aerosol and spray air and furnature deotorizers that day as well.

The next morning I woke up and noticed that the rim around the head of my penis was swollen, red, and irritated.  I walked around work in boxers all day and experienced much chaffing.  I went to my GP on 6/8/06. I mentioned the sexual encounter, but failed to mention the chemical contact out of anxiety of thinking it could only be Herpes! There were no open lesions or blisters and I felt great other that my rash.  He said it was dermatitis and told me to use 1% Hydrocortisone and wear snug underwear to prevent chaffing.  I did what he asked and , other than some redness, the rash went almost completely away in about 48 hours.

I kept examining it, thinking I saw "something", and the rash came back.  I finally left it alone, wore loose boxers at home and soaked in Aveeno for a few days and it dissapeared completely for a week (other than some redness and slight dryness).  I discontinued the Hydrocortisone and resumed running and regular masturbation.

About a week ago it came back. Though, I don't think it ever "completely" subsided...just not noticable. I didn't start back on Hydrocortisone until about 4 days ago.  The medication didn't respond as well as it initially did, so I have started applying lotion as well.  I think it MAY be helping, but the progress is slow going if it is.  It is still a little swollen, red and sensitive to rubbing. Hurts mostly if front where it rubs on the inside of my clothes. It has not spread.

I got some piece of mind from my partner when I asked her if she had a history of cold sores.  She reassured me she had not and is regularly tested for STDs/Clean.  Dr. HHH, said my symptoms did not suggest any STD.  I am frustrated with this irritation!

Made appt w/ dermaologist but can't see me until 9/1/06!

-What do you think is going on?
-Could exposure to all those nasty chemicals be the cause of my repeated dermatitis?
-Why is it seemingly clearing up and reappearing? (Friction?)
-Why did it respond well to Hydrocortisone a month ago and not now?
-Am I on the right treatment track?  Ignore it and wait it out?
-I am still freaked about atypical herpes symptoms, though irrational.

Thanks for your service!

-What do you think is going on?
Irritation.
-Could exposure to all those nasty chemicals be the cause of my repeated dermatitis?
Possibly at first, but not any more.
-Why is it seemingly clearing up and reappearing? (Friction?)
Yes.
-Why did it respond well to Hydrocortisone a month ago and not now?
Not sure.  But not because it's herpes or an STD>
-Am I on the right treatment track? Ignore it and wait it out?
Yes.
-I am still freaked about atypical herpes symptoms, though irrational.
Correct.  You'll need to get past this, with counseling if necessary.

Take care.
