Could it be scabies? Confused...Crazy?

by natchez, May 26, 2003 12:00AM
About 6 weeks ago I went to a massage parlour. There was some genital to genital contact. I was not happy about this.  Two days later my groin/scrotum was very ithy. The Dr. thought it might be a yeast infection and gave me Canesteen Cream. This was very irritating, and I decided to switch to Micatin Powder Spray.

I used this for two weeks, during which time the Groin itch slightly improved but my legs started itching.  At this point 6 weeks later my groin is barely itchy, but my scalp, face, and legs are itchy.  I have very small flesh colored bumps on my hand, some pimple like irratations as well, some on my back, and feet. I also have small white patches of skin on my ankles. The sores or bumps do not itch at all. Skin that does itch appears to have no rash or irratation......Could this be scabies? Or is this stress regarding the six weeks of fear about getting and STD?

Thanks in Advance.

Stress sounds like the right answer, because your description doesn't come close to apporximating scabies.  This is so not because of the skin changes so much as the timing: it takes scabies weeks to develop after exposure.

My advice is to use a lotion to combat itch--something containing camphor or menthol or diphenhydramine or pramoxine will do--ask your chemist for a suggestion.  Apply it as needed and don't worry about it.

If your symptoms persist anyway for another few weeks, show your doctor again.

And of course avoid sexual behavior likely to generate either exposure or anxiety.

Take care.

What if the inital itching in the groin was caused by Fungus or yeast but I also contracted Scabies? The itching in other areas of my body seemed to start about 5 weeks later which sounds like the average incubation time.

Mainly the itching is on my scalp and face (eyebrows, nose, cheek bone area), and some other locations that occasionaly become itchy.  Very slight and only need to be touched to stop.

New symptom!!

Last night I noticed a small clump of blisters on the bottom of my foot. They are a little sore, but not itchy.

The other foot seems to have some starting.  In the arch of the foot, basically.

Thanks.

Think about it.  How could you possibly be getting blisters on your feet from an STD.  It's as if you are just monitoring every inch on your body, waiting for something to happen.  Perhaps your feet are sweating from anxiety.

I know what your saying but.... i was worried about scabies, which could cause blisters on your feet from what I've read...but I don't know much about it to be honest.
