Curly hair texture

by curlyhair, Oct 25, 2009 02:14AM
I am  38 year old woman,  super healthy eat really well, mostly vegetables and some grains, definately get my 15 servings of veggies a day, tons of nuts and seeds. People think I am in my 20's,not just one person, everybody, I even got asked to pay the youth fair today for an event. I look young. I am fit and exercise regularly. No pre existing medical conditions at all.

for about 4 years now my hair has changed. I had a weird hair cut a few years ago, my hair was cut short, when usually it was long, the hair was cut too close to the scalp. (that is the only evidence I have) anyway ever since then my hair has changed. from really nice wavy hair, (Shampoo commercial hair, my hair was beautiful.) No it is curly and wavy, but not in a way I like. I do get grey hair just a bit near the center part, and I dye it with loreal hair product inferia . But for the most part my hair feel pretty good after I dye it. So I don't think it is the hair dye.

I am not taking any supplements, for hair care yet. but I am considering it, but I am concerned that it may make the hair on the rest of my body more 'healthy'. (not desirable if it is on your face or body)

Any help would be appreciated.

The hair cut could not account for the change in your hair since hair is dead matter. My daughter started out with straight hair but it got curlier and curlier over time. She is now 42 and it keeps getting curlier. I think your genes are responsible for your curly hair. As a side note when my hair started to gray (my hair is so straight it looks ironed) the gray bits were coarser and had some curl.

Hello,
Hair contains primarily keratin which is a kind of protein. Hair is curly or straight, depending upon the number of disulfide bonds between hair proteins found in the hair shaft. So if there is any sudden curling of hair, then it is not a medical condition but environmental factors like humidity and advancing age can cause such curling. There is no medical treatment as such but you can consult a cosmetologist and get it evaluated. Straightening

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
