If I fail to moisturize my nail cuticles with oil or drink sufficient water my cuticles are obviously drier than desired. Will that dryness cause the cuticle to slough off the top cells faster than a normal skin cuticle sloughing cycle of supple/hydrated skin (normal being every 2 weeks I think)? I am guessing the cuticle skin may see that too dried out layer as not as desirable as a more supple skin layer/patch and get rid of it sooner. If that top layer is too dry it is probably more likely to slough off on clothing, etc. faster too isn't it, thus hastening the sloughing even further? If so, does that early sloughing result in a cycle of "overproduction" where I see more regrowth/sloughing than I would normally see? How often is sufficient to oil cuticles to avoid excess dryness? I wear gloves to wash dishes and to clean with water/chemicals. Also I shower daily for 10 minutes approximately warm water and wash my hands
maybe half a dozen times per day with mild soaps so my water/chemical exposure is not excess for dryness I do not believe. I look forward to your response.
