Dandruf (I think) but not your regular case

Dandruf (I think) but not your regular case

I am not sure how to be catagorize the issue.  My fiance had a case of dandruf.  But the funny thing is it is on the top right side of his head.  It starts just behind the begining of his hair line, is two inches wide and maybe three inches long.  So it covers an area of only 6 square inches (not very big considering how big his head is).

From what I can see his hair is being restricted and seems to be thinning in that area.  And the dandruf is as thick as a strong fingernail. It is almost like a scab but dandruf in appearance.  He will not go to the doctor.  Can you please recommend anything besides Selsun Blue?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

Hi,

Dandruff or seborrhea can present as white flakes or thick scales on the scalp This is a form of skin inflammation  which has no known cause. There are plenty of over-the-counter medicated shampoos that you can look for to help control dandruff of the scalp. Look for those who have these ingredients:  tar, salicylic acid, zinc, selenium sulfide or  ketoconazole. He can use the shampoo daily and if the problem persists, switch to another type of shampoo above.  If there is no improvement,  prescription medication such as cortisone creams and anti-fungal creams from your doctor may be indicated.

Take care and keep us posted.
