Dark line on neck

Hi, Im a 24 indian male. Over the past year ive noticed a line start to appear on my neck, sometimes it is dark and sometimes it is quite light. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Better safe than sorry my friend..it could well be just a minor skin discoloration for no know reason...but cover your self and be sure !

Thanks for the reply :) I'm not too sure what my cholesterol level is, i do eat alot of fried food and i also smoke. As you can see i have a very unhealthy lifestyle as it is :P
Occasionally i get pins and needles and numbness in my arms but only if i lean on them. I did have a hearth murmurr when i was younger but was informed this had closed up.
Looks like i definately need to stop ignoring it and see a doctor.

Hi, you know it just occured to me whne re looking at your photo that the dark line is in  the area that carotid artery follows..I have never heard of a line developing because of artery problems but am not knowledgable on cardio too much. But combing this with your clue of getting very cold could be a partially blocked artery. Whats you cholesterol good or bad? take cholesterol meds?
a simple test called carotid doppler can tell how blocked ones neck arterys are. Your head aches sure arent helped by hours infront of puter ( I know i do that too !!) but again...headaches could relate to constricted blood flow....remember just a volunteer,,not a dr.....but it would seem a check up by pcp to see if you need a cardiologist would be in order.

ever get numbness, pins and needless in feet hands? shortness of breathe? heavy feeling on chest, tightness in chest?
let dr know all symptoms.

Hi Cherie,

I was born and raised in the UK this is where i live and work. The driver side is on the right, and i dont lean or sleep at this angle which is why i thought it was odd...

I dont usually get hot and cold but when it is cold i feel VERY cold. I do get alot of really bad head exploding headaches though and was wondering if it could be related. Though i spend about 12 hours a day infront of a PC too so that could be the cause of the headaches.

Hi curious looking, obviously the pigment is darkening,,Id tend to not think from sun.unless you do something that has you at such an angle , driving perhaps? is driver side of car on the right in India?

I really would advise you to see a skin dr (dermatologist) ..especially since it changes from light to dark....do you have any problems with body tempurature regulating?  do you go from hot to cold easily...you may need thyroid checked.

the only time I have seen such a line is on the belly of pregnant women.,,it has to do with hormones,,reason I suggested thyroid...may be time to see a endrocrinologist.
