I'm 44 years old and I've notice a dark ring around my neck and dark blotches on the back of my neck area.

You may have eczmea, a superficial fungus infection, a genetic skin change that affects the neck -- please show your problem to a doctor. He or she can tell you what's up and very likely help the problem a great deal.
