Dark under eye circles

I am 24 years old, and about two years ago, I began to get dark circles under my eyes.  Now, the circles are pretty dark, I have people constantly asking me if I am tired because of the way my eyes look.  They're even dark on my eyelids now.  Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? Is there any over the counter creams I can use, instead of having to visit a dermatologist?  I've tried several products and no luck.  Please help, I'm beginning to get desperate.

Hi,

Sometimes applying these products may aggravate the condition as they may cause some skin reactions. Were these circles  present even as a child? Would you say that family members also present with these? This may be genetic for some, for others the cause may be due to stress, sleep deprivation, dehydration, or a reaction with some products.

A visit with a dermatologist will help. I have mentioned in a previous post that creams or gels containing Vit K and retinol may be able to help. However, I feel that you are looking for a more long term if not permanent solution. You may discuss with your dermatologist the advantages of photorejuvenation, vein and collagen laser remodelling. This may cost more however. Also some home remedies such as using potatoes and cucumbers are said to show good results. Do be careful on what you apply since allergic reactions may aggravate the condition.

I too have terrible under eye circles.  I'm 25 years old. I look like someone has punched me in both eyes. It extends from the inside corner of my eye down half way around. I've tried over the counter creams and nothing seems to work.  Concealers don'tcover them all the way either. I went to my doctor to get blood tests to see if I had a vitamin deficiancy or allergy, but they found nothing.  Is there anything that can be done?
