Darkening of face

Can anyone tell me the possible causes of hyperpigmentation.
Especially one on my face: its dark and getting darker but smooth.
Usualy accompanied with sweating and scrathing.
It appear suddenly and has been there for upward of three months getting worse .

Hyperpigmentation is skin darkening. Darkening of the face can be due to hyperpigmentation or melasma which occurs due to hormonal changes. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.

Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
