My 3 year old daughter has gotten these red bumps all around the outside of her private area and buttocks area and a few on her legs and a few on her stomach and back. She has been sick with viruses off and on for 2 months. She has a cough for 9 months, and the intensity of the cough fluctuates. She had a doubleDouble-tussin dmearEar barotrauma Ear discharge Ear emergencies Ear examination Ear tube insertion Ear tube insertion - series infection 3 weeks ago and was put on amoxicillan for 10 days. Well after on the third day her private area was brightBright beginnings red and itchy. We happened to be at my sister in law's house and she said that amoxicillan always made her have a yeast infection that she should put some monistatMonistat 3 Monistat 5 Monistat 7 Monistat-1 Monistat-1 combo pack Monistat-1 day or night 7 on that area. Well, I took her advise and put a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys of the monistatMonistat 3 Monistat 5 Monistat 7 Monistat-1 Monistat-1 combo pack Monistat-1 day or night 7 around the vulva area. Well it stopped her itching right away. (The monistat 7 that I used from her was almost gone, and we had to squeeze the tube really hard to get a pea size amount out. I am wondering if we could of got anything from sharing medicine tube.) Anyways, a week later I noticed that my daugher had this red bite/bump like on her butt and 2 inches above her anus a tear in the skin about 1/4 inch like a cut. She was itching it like crazy so I put hydro cortizone on it. Now it seems like there are 3 more of these red bumps appearing each day. They start out small and then they grow into the size of a dime and become raised and the center can be puss like. I don't know what these are. Any ideas? Please help!
This sounds like folliculitis or a boil. These are infections caused by skin bacteria.Itchiness in the affected area may lead to scratching and this may cause minor cuts and injuries especially in the anal and genital areas wherein skin is sensitive and fragile.
I suggest you have your child seen by her pediatrician.Topical cremes and antibiotics may not readily control the condition. She may be needing oral medications for this. Keep the area clean always.Wash only with a mild bland and hypoallergenic cleanser.
