Do I have male yeast infection?

by retusi, Mar 02, 2004 12:00AM
Last night I was having sex with my girlfriend and I started to feel like an itching sensation on the base of my penis, where there is the most accumulation of vaginal fluids. I was wearing a condom and after a while i decided to wipe of the excessive vaginal fluids from my scrotum because it started to feel uncomfortable. I noticed that there was a lot of fluids but then it got to the point where it started to burn a bit and I lost my erection. I went to the bathroom to clean up and while i was drying my genitals after washing them I noticed they were glowing red and had some herpes like blisters developed in the area where there was the most concentration of vaginal fluids. After a 1 hour, my scrotum was the normal again with absolutely no marks or blisters.  My girlfriend and I have been tested for stds and we are both negative. She told me that the same thing happened to her ex boyfriend and they went to the doctor told them she had a high ph in her vaginal fluids. She also suffers from Urinary trackt infections once in a while and she always takes some antibiotics, I also used a condom with spermicide.
Question: Was the rash to my scrotum caused by a yeast infection? What can we do about it? Is it dangereous? Any comments and recommendations are greatly appreciated. Should I continue to date her? Will this have complications in the future?

Thank you so much for your help.

No, this is not a yeast infection, because it came on suddenly and went right away.  Infections don't do that; irritations do.  I'm not sure whether it's the fluid or the pH, but it doesn't matter much.  Since it went right away, there seems no need to use any treatment at all.  If the rash stops resolving, you should show it to a doctor.

Best.

i think it could possibly be yeast-related, the lack of lubrication, or latex may have caused inflamation (inflammation).  however, if the problem completely subsides, you may have little to worry about, other than asymptomatic transmission of candida organisms/ i.e. yeast.  i think yeast can come in a variety of forms, some more virulent than others, (i.e. some can be down right nasty, others, more benign i.e. the yeast in your gut lining), please be careful , always use a condom w/ sex.  transmission, and unsuccessful treatment of yeast, leads to stronger strains of yeast organisms, that are difficult, if not impossile to cure. but can be treated.

I am experiencing a similar problem.

My girlfriend of six months couldn't get her Aviane prescription and missed a dose so she bought spermicidal gel in "injector" form to provide some extra assurance against pregnancy. Immediately after using them she experienced extremely intense itching and irritation, pain when urinating, etc. She used much more than an adequate amount of gel and in the past (years ago) had bad reactions to spermicidal condoms. She spent the better part of a week in pain and discomfort, scratching until she was sore, occasionally observing a white discharge. I noticed I too developed a few red spots or dots on the head of my penis, though I've experienced no pain or itchiness whatsoever. The spots sometimes are very visible and sometimes not at all. We've both made appointments to get it looked at but I suspect it is not an STD because the symptoms appeared immediately (on both of us) after use of the spermicidal gel. Furthermore, if it is a direct result of the gel, why aren't there HUGE warnings on these products that it can cause an intense reaction in a portion of the population?

Is this an allergy? A yeast infection? Candida overgrowth?
