Does lemon juice REALLY get rid of freckles?

I like freckles, but mine are getting out of hand.  I'm staying out of the sun and wearing SPF 30 every day.  It's preventing new freckles, but the old ones are just awful.  There are so many, it looks like a weird birth mark all over my face -- not even individual spots anymore!

Would lemon juice help to fade them, or is that a myth?

Continue the sunscreen to prevent enhancement of the freckles caused by sun exposure. If this does not control the old ones, sun avoidance and makeup as well as chemical peels, cryotherapy, and laser treatment  may be used. There are no conclusive studies done that proves lemon juice in freckle removal. I hope this helps. Take care and regards.
