Does my Child have a sun allergy?

by Teresa, Jun 13, 2000 12:00AM
My 15 month old son might have a skin problem.  When he goes out into the sun, a rash will appear on his face.  There are not any other spots on his body.  When I bring him out of the sun the rash will disappear within a couple of hours.  Could this be a sun allergy?

Teresa:

Any rash that comes and goes that fast is more likely to be prickly heat than allergy.  In any case, it isn't something to be concerned about, unless it bothers him more than it it probably does.  Just use a broad-specturm (UVA/UVB) sunblock (a hat is even better!) and pay no attention to it, is my advice.

Best.
