Just wanted to start off by saying this ia a great site with a wealth of information.
About the first of July this year i noticed a red mark on the shaft of my penis. It appeared approximately 3 weeks after having unprotected intercourse with a women of unknown std status. previous to that i have had 2 three year faithful relationships and had clean std tests in March of this year. I have an apt. with my Doctor set for two weeks time, but just wanted to see what you had to say in the meantime.
The mark is about the size of the top of a pencil eraser, is usually pink or red, is on the base of my penis, about an inch up the shaft from the base, when i stretch the skin out it sems to be totally flat, however when i push the skin towards the base and the skin wrinkles the spot seems to be slightly more raised on the wrinkle than the rest of the skin. the spot has been there all this time and never disappeared or seemed to change in size. I applied Hydrocortisone and it seemed to reduce the red/pink slightly to more of a skin color but you could still tell it was there. At one point the spot seemed to crack it looked like almost a tear in the skin, so i applied polysporin and it healed the crack in a day or two. But didn't change the spot much at all.
i had read elsewhere on the internet that you can test for warts by putting vinegar on the suspected spots and if they whiten they are likelly warts. i did apply vinegar last night and the spot did whiten. (by the way i did this before reading this froum and seeing your comments on how you shouldn't do this test as it is inaccurate.) The spot was usually soft and felt like the surrounding skin but today after appllying vinegar it seems more red like a bright red, and is dry or hard to the touch.
I guess my questions are.
1. Does this sound like HPV?
2. Is the vinegar test as innacurate as you say?
3. If this does not sound like HVP what else could it possible be?
4. Does 3 weeks seem like an accurate incubation time from the time of my unprotected encounter?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
