Does this sound like a correct diagnosis? Still paranoid...

Hello again doctor.  I posted here back on 12/30/04.  My message entitled what am i to think..
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/dermatology/messages/C33390-4.html. ; Please refer to that since I don't want to explain everything again.

I did go back to my general prac. to have him have a look at the tiny whitish cluster of bumps that you recommended I do.  He took a quick look at them and said that they were nothing to worry about.  They were small oil glands.  I did a search on the internet when I got home and wasn't able to find anything that looked the same as what I have. The bumps are very small, they are probably the size of a grain of salt.  A few clusters exist. One of about 5-6 and another of 2 and a two lone rangers on the other side.  They are located just under the head on the underside, with foreskin pulled back.  But, they are not on the head itself.  Under normal circumstances, I would be able to just let this one go, but since the stakes are high for me, I wanted to make sure that this sounded like a good explination.  I have no reason to think that it is an incorrect diagnosis, but he is a general prac., and you are a derm.  He said not even to worry if they spread, or even if I had 50 of them, there isn't a reason to worry.  But, they do appear to be spreading, very slowly.  The only reason I am still concerned is because the NP said another bump was a wart and she burned it off.  Now, i know the doctor said it wasn't, but he never actually saw it before it was burnt.

1.  What is an oil gland and should these bumps ever disapear?  How do they go away?
2.  If the bumps were something abnormal, what would I be looking for?
3.  Should I still be worried?

I agree with the GP.  These glands do not go away; they don't need to.  The bumps are not abnormal.  You should not be worried.

If the GP's diagnosis wasn't enough to reassure you, you ought to see a dermatologist, who will very likely say the same thing but perhaps with more authority.

Take care.
