I just noticed this a few months ago. I have some "bumps" that appear like dry skin. When I scratch them, its hard to scratch them off (like the cover is "holding on tight"). I have several on my inner thighs and then one here and there other parts of arm/leg. The ones on my thighs don't itch but the other ones in more aerated areas itch sometimes but not bad. None of them are painful at all and the color is almost the same as my skin tone (caucasian). Any ideas? Thanks!
Would you be able to describe the lesions as lesions with reddish irregular margins with central scaling or clearing?
Likely differentials for these would be tinea vesicolor which is a fungal infection (usually presents as pale lesions with central scaling), eczematous disease ( nummular dermatitis, contact or allergic dermatitis, xerotic dermatitis). These conditions usually present with itchiness. The dermatitis may present with dryness ( xerotic) but usually is associated with the hands and feet secondary to soap or solvent use which may be irritants . The other dermatitis may present with weeping lesions after being scratched repeatedly.
A consult with your dermatologist will be able to help exclude other underlying conditions. Fungal infections may be easily diagnosed clinically. Meanwhile, keep the area dry and avoid using harsh abrasive and scented lotions or soaps. Avoid sharing towels.Avoid unnecessarily touching the area.
