Dry and smelly scrotum

My scrotum is dry, itches and smells. I think i have this condition for about more than a year. I keep my scrotum area clean and i shave it like twice a month. I have tried applying moisturizing lotion which helps with the dryness and itching but the smell is still there. After i bath, the smell comes back almost after half an hour. If i rub my finger over scrotum, my finger smells the same. I just don't like that smell i want to get rid of it. Kindly help. Thanks

women are affected at times under the breast, under the "flap apron" that comes from giving birth and in the folds of the groin area.

It is a bacterial "situation".  Women go braless, under the child bearing flap in abdomen are and men in the testicular area.....think about it....skin on skin causes a wet (sweaty) area as well as for men in his neither area.  After suffering with it for several years I found a cure and ending the misery in 2 days......with

Tea Tree Oil and orange oil.  The treatment stings a bit but when you realize that all you have to due to keep it at bay is to pat the area with baby powder or any type of powder that pleases you.
For men out there I would suggest that after the treatment, you go commando to air out the area.
NOW FOR THE TREATMENT: Tree Tea oil and orange oil are pure oils that can be purchased at GNC (also great in defusers to scent the room), get a bunch of LARGE COTTON BALLS, for the tummy area, take about 3 cotton balls and stretch them to make a pad, you might want to wet them slightly, I chose to go hard core, now pour some TeaTreeOil on the pad and apply to half the area of tummy fold, repeat other side, and breast area always using fresh cotton balls.  It will sting but will not hurt your skin at all but you do have to endure about 20 minutes, stinging stops and I left on all night long......next night I did the same with orange oil.  Months later it has not return.  I shower, dry the area well, powder it and enjoy the relief.

MEN WILL HAVE a more delicate area but it won't be any worse than the groin area.  It's gonna sting some but will kill the bacteria.  I would suggest using some cut up tee shirts, moisten slightly, apply oil and wrap shirt around the area and perhaps wear underwear to keep it in place. Again, it stings for 20 minutes but remember it is killing the bacteria and worth it.

I really am serious about anyone who wants to go commando to keep it dry........use powder fellas like Gold Bond.

GRIN AND BEAR IT AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO REPEAT UNLESS YOU NEED TOO.!
I wish you well and you will love this life changing problem.!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From your symptoms it looks like fungal infection or tinea cruris. Keep the area dry and after washing also dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwear and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.

Most cases of tinea cruris respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. If the symptoms are severe then oral antifungals may be needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Go see your dermatologist you may very well have a problem with some sort of fungus causing the smell and itching and dryness.  Maybe Jock itch?

It's basically atheletes foot on your crotch. Ask your doctor about it and find out what you can do to treat it.
