Dry skin on penis will not go away

Dry skin on penis will not go away

I had unprotected sex back on 1-15-11 and 2 weeks later I saw a bump on my penis. I thought I caught genital herpes but after recent blood tests my doctor told me I did not contract the std. However, it has been almost a month and this white dry look on my penis head will not go away. I've been putting vaseline or A&D ointment on it hoping it will moisturize that area and make this dry look go away. I'm assuming this girl had some sort of vaginal infection or yeast infection to cause my penis to look so dry now. It's totally unattractive looking.

I want to know if there is a prescripted cream/ointment for this skin condition. If so, what type doctor do I visit. I'm assuming it's a dermantologist or my primary care doctor.

If there is no such prescripted medication, what over the counter product do you recommend.

Please respond.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

You are right! You should see a dermatologist who will take your medical history, examine your skin, including affected area and perform additional diagnostic tests, if necessary, prior to prescribing you treatment.

Differential diagnoses include infections, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, lichen planus etc. Good news: all diseases listed above are treatable, and both prescription and over the counter drugs are available.
