Eczema on the face

I'm almost positive that I have eczema on my face.  It's itchy, dry, red, scaly patches on my face mostly cheeks and forehead, but also around the edges of my mouth and sideburn areas.  Along my hairline and my head.  I've always had a problem with dandruff and i'm thinking it's moreso eczema now than dandruff.  While I was pregnant it all went away (which i LOVED!)  but now it's back and my face is super red and hurts and I can't stop scratching it!

I guess what I want to know is has anyone out there found a OTC product that really worked for them?  I don't know what to use.  I've read a few things but not sure about them and most I've heard about are prescription only, which is not an option with no insurance.  My face is also very oily, so hydrating it doesn't work very well.  I've tried lotion and that just irritates it and makes my face even MORE oily.  I'm talking it's really bad oily to where sometimes I'll wake up and my eyes burn because of it.  I need more options and fast!!!  Please help, thanks :)

Thank you so much!  I thought my post was going to be lost forever!  Okay, so I didn't get your post until today, and two days ago I did my own remedy and it worked!!  This is what I did.

Since my head get dandruff and was itchy just the same like my face almost I used Selsun Blue shampoo and washed my hair with it, I used to suds part of it on my face, which was probably kind of harsh, but it seemed to help the itchiness.  After that I dried my face off and put Clotrimazole cream on it.  I read somewhere online that my issue is caused by excess yeast build- up.  So my son (6 months) had a yeast infection and was given this cream to put on him daily.  I figured if it can go on his genitals it can't be that bad for my face. lol.  So I put it all on my face and moreso where the issues were happening. INSTANTLY it felt better.  The burning went away and the itching ceased!!!  I was amazed.  By that next day there was no redness, but still dry and flaky a little bit with slight itchiness. I did the same routine the next night before going to bed.  And by the third day it was basically gone.  Although I only did it two nights in a row, now it's coming back a little.  I know this remedy will work but I obviously can't use it forever!

What kind of moisturizer do you think I should use?  I can NEVER find one that doesn't make my face all oily and gross.  Same with cleansers.  They either make my face break out, oily or SUPER dry.  Any info would be helpful thank you so much!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema skin. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms  can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

There are certain other non-pharmacological measures which are equally important in treatment. These are Lubricating the skin frequently, avoiding harsh soaps and cleansers, preventing scratching or rubbing whenever possible, protecting skin from excessive moisture, irritants, and rough clothing, maintaining a cool, stable temperature and consistent humidity levels, limiting exposure to dust, cigarette smoke, pollens, and animal dander & Recognizing and limiting emotional stress.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
