Electrolysis pigmentation

Hi Doc,

I had 4 sessions of electrolusis on my upper lip area. It started to darken after the third session. There is red spots and from far looks like a shadow of moustache. Is this pigmentation?  Will it fade? What should I do?

Hello,
After reading your post, I feel that the lesion that you are having is due to scarring and pitting of the skin which is a rare side effect of electrolysis and occurs due to carelessly or rapidly done electrolysis or due to the sensitiveness of the skin to electrolysis.

TCA peels can significantly improve freckling, blotchy or uneven pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles and shallow acne scars. Laser treatment also helps in diminishing the scars.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
