Emptigo

A child in my daughters preschool has been absent  for several days.  The teacher said that the little girl has emptigo. Emptigo is supposed to be a contagious skin infectiion.  I have not been able to find any information on this infection.  Have you ever heard of emptigo?  If so, what is it, what are the signs and symptoms?

Tyra:

The word is impetigo.  It's a common bacterial skin infection in children.  Although it is contagious, you don't need to worry, because the rash is obvious: blisters and scabs on the face, and so on.  The child who went home is certainly treated by now (treatment is easy: antibiotic creams, etc.)

Best.

Try spelling it like this. Impetigo. You'll get alot more queries that way. Impetigo is contagious. It forms round spots that ooze and weep. Then forms a honey colored crust. Well here. As a matter of fact, try this address.

Hope this helps.
