Eyebrows

by Ernie, Oct 08, 1999 12:00AM
Dear doctor,
I am a 19year old male. I have a problem with my eyebrows.
They are ridiculously thin for a guy my age. Other than the eyebrows, I am a perfectly normal male(and I am not on any form of medication)

I do notice that older people tend to have thinner eyebrows but for someone my age, it is quite depressing. Please offer me some explanation and if possible, solutions.

Thanks a million.

Ernie:

There's a huge variation between individulas in what is normal.  If your eyebrows are thinner than most, that doesn't represent a disease in an otherwise healthy individual like you, just a variant of normal.  (Some men are embarrassed by having too much eyebrow hair, "beetling" eyebrows.)

Women with this complaint would use eyebrow pencil.  In our culture men don't do that.  Any hair products designed to make hair look thicker (by coating it with protein) might be worth a try on the eyebrows.  For specific product recommendations, I suggest asking a hairdresser.

Best.
