Eyelash fall out

by Ga1423, May 13, 2008 03:48PM
My eyelashes have fallen out also.  I have been using eyelash growing gels.  I don't want to mention the names of the 2 different companys because I don't know if this is why they are falling out.  They were not "fly by night" companys.  They both hve very good reputations, and the growth gels worked unbelievably for the first 6 to 8 months.  Now my eyelids seem to have dandruff that I have to brush off every day.  I don't pull my eyelashes nor do I use mascara often.  I have always been very careful with my lashes because I think a persons eyes are the most beautiful part of the face. I don't know what to do.  I am so upset.  Has anyone else out there had this problem after using the "eye lash growth gels?

Hi,

When eye lashes fall out, the problem may be due to the eyelids. There may be an underlying blepharitis or inflammation of the eyelids which may be due to an infection.
Bepharitis may be caused by

"Conditions associated with blepharitis include:

Seborrheic dermatitis — dandruff of the scalp and eyebrows
A bacterial infection
Malfunctioning oil glands in your eyelid
Rosacea — a skin condition characterized by facial redness."

Source:http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/blepharitis/DS00633/DSECTION=3.

You may want to have this assessed by your physician. An ophthalmologist may be able to guide you and ascertain the diagnosis for the condition. Just refrain from using the creams for a while and do avoid using any eye liners or other cosmetics on the area.

Thank you so much for your answer.  I do have rosaces, but I have been having really go progress with skin treatments.  I have an appointment with a Dr. in 2 weeks.  I'm going to take a copy of this with me.

Thank you again
