Eyelid irritation

My daughter ( 5yrs old) has an irritated eyelid on her left eye.  When I noticed it, I assumed she had gotten into my makeup and that is how it got irritated.  Not only is it not going away, it is starting to spread and the area around the whole eye is getting irritated (dry and crusty mainly).  I don't have insurance so, I don't want to take her to the doctor unless I have to.  I want to put something on it but, I don't want to irritate it any more than it is.  If you have any suggestions please let me know.  I told her not to rub it and maybe it will heal on its on.  Thank you.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to contact dermatitis,seborrheic dermatitis or eczema.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky,dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with anti dandruff or medicated shampoos.
Also wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites but you can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin.Also consult a dermatologist and get prescribed the anti dandruff shampoo or steroid ointments as in children they have to be used in caution and cannot be obtained without prescription.
