FUNGUS ON MY HEAD

It seems that I went to a barbewr and dirty clippers have caused me to devolp a fungus on my head. I have tried all types of shampoos, and lamisil. It seems now to be spreading through out my head. What can I do to get rid of this. I have never had anything like this before and am at my wits end!

Try Using Neem Oil for atleast 2 months regularly. Apply it everyday before going to sleep and next morning wash it off with a Herbal soap. Do not use any Chemical Shampoo's or Soaps. You will definitely get rid off the Fungus.

Go to your doctor!!

Its called tinea capitis. They will prescribe you a medication called griseofulvin that you have to take by mouth for ~1-2 months. In the mean time wash all of your hats, pillow cases, sheets etc. very well and make sure no one else that you are in contact with has it too.

That is the only way to completely get rid of it. Some doctors dont prescribe it for long enough and topical medications and shampoos don't always work. It has to be by mouth for at least 4 weeks and longer if needed up to a max of 12 weeks.

I'm a hairdresser and I've seen this dirty clipper problem many many times. This comes from the hairdresser not sanitizing the clippers after every use. Avoid those barbers and hairdressers. Some clients came to me with this problem have had success with using athletes foot cream on their head to three times a week and it seems to make it go away. It's a fungus so it won't hurt to try  Just keep it out your eyes. So many people don't take sanitation the shops seriously. You also need to watch out for straight razors it's not sanitized in an autoclave. If the hairdresser is just sticking the razor down in the barbercide, you leave yourself open for HIV and hepatitis exposure. Most small barbershops can't afford at autoclave because they run $3000 it's just FYI good luck.

I've had a fungi in my scalp for  2 years and I've tried everything from tee tree to pouring bleach on my scalp. Listing people I have found the remedy to this problem. Now I don't know if its safe or not but it had worked for me... One day I had just cleaned my clippers with some disinfection spray after cutting my hair, and I was reading the back of the can on how it kills all types of fungi so I chose to spray some on my scalp (after cutting my hair bald). Applied a little hair grease after. I've done this for a week strait and my scalp is clear and back to normal!!. But like I said I don't know if its safe,i feel normal but I'm concern about poison and toxic getting in my system threw my scalp. But at this point I was so fed up I didn't care...  Good luck to all I feel your pain...........

Hi,
I have the same condition as the other comments. I have this nasty fungal infection for  about 6 years now. Some of my friends laugh and scorn me because of this infection. Now some of my friend won't talk to me because of this. I do not know what to do! I tried lots of shampoos and pills and they do not work! I tried this shampoo called Denorex, it worked and it went away for about 3 years and when the shampoo finished, it came back even worse. My advice is to let your hair get lots of fresh air to help to get rid of the blood, smell and yucky feeling.Remember that the mre moisture and nutrient you give you hair, your just going to feed the fungus and make it worse. But anyone, PLEASE HELP ME! FUNGUS IS RUINING MY LIFE!!

My husband has some sort of gritty funk on his head that is causing his hair to fall out.  He think he got it in Kuwait.   When he went back to the states for some training and got into a swimming pool it cleared up but when he went back to Kuwait he got it again.  He has just come back for 2 weeks RR and was hoping it would clear up but it hasn't.  I am going to get some tea tree oil and give him probiotics.  Hopefully it helps him.

Hello,
my son is going through the same situation. We are using oil of oregano, both topically and in capulet. As well as grisefulin medicine, it's a fluid. I been told and read also that tee tree oil supposed to help. All are anti fungal.  And use a shampo that contain zinc, like head and sholders. You can put the oil of oregano in the shampo. Then shake the bottle. I have seen inprovement. it's been about six month's. He still has one bump, we call it on the side of his head.Which am concerned about because blood and fluid came out last night. I was afraid to wash his hair. and will talk to his dematologist tommorrow. Good luck. I know it's not easy.

My boyfriend has been living with a scalp infection he received from a barber using dirty clippers, for over 3 years now! He scratches severely everyday, it bleeds and smells, puss runs from it, and seems to be spreading! It covers the majority of the back of his head so he wears a hat wherever he goes because he's so ashamed! We want to find the best Dermatologist to treat it, but dont have alot of money, so I have to make sure we get the correct diagnosis the first time around....Could anyone tell me what you possibly think this infection is? And what we could do to treat it? Will his hair ever grow back or are the hair follicles permanently damaged?

Hi,
I think you have got Tinea capitis infection. Topical antifungal with systemic fungicides will help you in solving this ailment.
I think you should consult a Dermatologist, and discuss regarding further line of management.
Hope this helps you.
Keep me informed regarding further development.
Happy holidays to you and your family.
Bye.
