Face Skin Rash

I recently had surgery on my left eye on 3 days ago and they put an eye patch on me for 24 hrs and then the doctor removed it and used some sort of adhesive remover.  Then the next morning I woke up and I have a big rash all over my face where the patch was.  I was wondering if anyone knows what it is or how to get rid of it or how long it will last.

Any info would be great and I will also include a picture.

This rash is probably due to an allergic response to the adhesive. It appears like an outbreak of hives/angioedema.
Angioedema is a swelling similar to hives, but the swelling is beneath the skin rather than on the surface. The swellings are called welts.

It is associated with the release of histamine and other chemicals into the bloodstream. The body releases histamine when the immune system detects a foreign substance called an allergen.
Adhesives are known to trigger off this rash in susceptible individuals.

To soothe itchy skin, try cold compresses and apply calamine lotion on the affected area. Try an over-the-counter antihistamine like Cetrizine/Loratidine to reduce your body's response to the irritant. If id does not show any signs of subsiding in a couple of days, you can apply a Corticosteroid ointment like Hydrocortisone 1% till the skin inflammation subsides.
It should resolve in a week's time. Do not apply any cream/soap/facial product on the site of the rash till it subsides.
