Facial Sebaceous Cysts - Idea??

Facial Sebaceous Cysts - Idea??

Hi there,

Quick question. I have a facial cyst in the maxillary region on my face. With the risks associated with surgical removal in this area on the face, would it be possible to attack the cyst from the back end through the gums to remove the root and sac???

Thanks for your help!

A very intersting concept put forth by you here. May be this reference will help you.

A buccal mucosal intraoral approach is an alternative
to a percutaneous excision to remove a cyst in the lower
cheek region. The intraoral approach avoids a visible scar on the
cheek skin.

Hello,
First of all for sebaceous cyst in the maxillary area, we try to use minimal invasive procedure of surgical excision. The advantage of surgical excision is that the cyst is treated in one session. What happens is that the tissue immediately surrounding the sebaceous cyst is injected with a local anaesthetic. The cyst is incised and the contents squeezed out leaving the empty wall of the cyst.

If it is not possible then intraoral approach is used but it is not without side effects.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
