I've been taking excellent care of my skin the past few weeks just to be sure I'd look my best to be maid of honor at my best friend's wedding. Everything was clearing up and looking much better until I made a HUGE mistake. I used a microdermabrasion product last night, and then only about an hour later I used a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummysfacialFacial paralysis Facial tics Facial trauma depilatory cream. I thought I was being safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex by only leaving it on for a couple minutes.
When I went to sleep, my faceFace pain was fine other than a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys sensitivity which I thought was normalNormal saline flush after such harsh products. I woke up a few hours later with obvious redness in the places where I used the depilatory cream. It doesn't hurt, but it feels a bit warmer than it should be. Also, I tried putting a little bit of calming moisturizer on it and that kind of stung after it had time to soak in, so I washed it off as best I could. It reacts this way to anything I put on it so I've just been using very cold washcloths instead.
I'm in a wedding TOMORROW and I look like a have a sunburn-beard and mustache. Please help. Is there anything at all I can do to make the redness go down without making things worse? And if not, is it safe to wear makeup over the burn?
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it sounds like irritant contact dermatitis. Irritant dermatitis, the most common type of contact dermatitis, involves inflammation resulting from contact with acids, alkaline materials such as soaps and detergents, cosmetics, or other chemicals.
Avoid using any lotions and creams over the face for the meantime. Wash your face with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat your face dry. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort.
If the irritation persists then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist
Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
