Facial rash (spots) on my daughter who is 18months

by Feona, Oct 04, 2008 02:45AM
My daughter who is 18months has a very reddish spotty rash on both her cheeks. Somedays its not as fiery as others but we have tried her with Fucidin cream and antibiotics and it hasn't cleared up. I'm wondering if she could be allergic to full fat cows milk(?) She has been on full fat milk since she was a year old and when I think about it her skin hasn't been the best since then, but maybe thats just a coincidence. Can you help?

Thanks

Hi
There is probability that your child is having milk allergy. Milk allergy is a common type of food allergy, especially during the first year of life. It is the reaction of the immune system to cow’s milk proteins. Usually most of the children lose their allergic reaction to milk by age 3, but some may remain allergic for a lifetime.
The release of histamines can affect the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, skin, and the cardiovascular system.
Slower allergic reactions can appear over hours to days and symptoms include vomiting, irritability, failure to gain weight, skin rashes and hives or frequent cough and colds.
Sometimes rapid reaction occurs like wheezing, itchy hives, and excessive stomachache, difficulty in breathing, swelling of tongue, throat or even anaphylaxis. You should consult a doctor for a complete clinical examination and entire tests for allergy panel. The diagnosis for milk allergy skin ***** test and blood tests for IgE antibodies.
Take care
