Facial swelling from Levitra

Facial swelling from Levitra

Hello there,
I am a 31-year-old male, and took 5mg of Levitra 48 hrs. ago. Ever since then, the left side of my face (and left eye) have been slightly swollen. It actually feels worse than it looks -- it's slightly hard to smile b/c of the inflammation I feel on the left side.  Is this a permanent side effect, or will this resolve itself on its own?
Thanks!

To be honest, I have never heard of a drug reaction that involves swelling of one side of the face.  It does not sound like anything serious, much less permanent.  My advice is to take Benadryl  (over-the-counter) 50 milligrams tonight and 25 milligrams 2-3 times tomorrow.  Cool compresses may also help the symptoms, which I think are likely to go away on their own.  If the swelling persists or worsens or spreads, you should see a doctor.

Best.  Dr. Rockoff
