Finger Nail Pad disconnect

Finger Nail Pad disconnect

My wife had acrylic nails some years ago and the nails started disconnecting from her pads, she had the the acrylic nails removed but now two years later they still are disconnected and from time she will lose one and the nail will grow for a short time and then disconnect.  It is extremely painful and she has little strength in them.  Her Dermatoligst gave her a prescr she puts on the nails put has not helped.  It almost appears like a 'fungul' infection, any suggestions????

Not sure.  Acrylic nails should not damage the nail permanently.  Neither, for that matter, should fungus (which is unlikely in any case.)  I think you need to get a more precise diagnosis.  Start with the doctor you have and go further if needed.

Best.
