Fingernail fungus

Fingernail fungus

I have been diagnosed with fingernail fungus - 6 out of 10 nails - I tried over the counter medications - they di not work.  My Dr. prescribed a new oral anti-fungal med that requires a blood test prior to starting the dosage (this test is a liver function test) which I had done.  I took the med for 6 days and developed a sever allergic reaction.  I had to stop the med and take steroids to counteract the affects of the fungal med.  It took many months for me to recover from all the adverse affects from both medications.

Consequently the nail fungus is still present.  I am desperate to   remove this fungus from my body.  Please advise.

There are three oral medications now in use for nail fungus: Lamisil (tern\binafine), Sporanox (itraconazole) and Diflucan (fluconazole).  If you are allergic to one, you can take one of the others, since they are unrelated chemically.  Speak to your doctor.

Best.

Thank-you Dr. Rockoff,
My Doctor had told me that I would probably be allergic to all the medications you mentioned.  I was prescribed
Sporanox.

If that's what your doctor said, it makes no sense.  Ask someone else.  ASR

I to have finger nail fungus, tried over counter stuff for years, no help, took lamisil, didn't work. Started using ozenated olive oil, about a month ago, stopped fungus, and nail is growing out ok. In morning when nails are dry put it on, and force it in around nails and skin, also at night,(cut back nails on both sides to the good skin) put on bandaid to keep from rubbing ooo off onto things. keep in the refige looks like pet-jelly cold, olive oil body temp. smells like ozone, purchaced it from www.ozoneservices.com They put o3 into olive oil, it works good on every skin problem I have had so far, in about 3 days the problem clears up, it's great!

I have had a stubborn fingernail fungus for many years. After trying nearly ALL over-the-counter products with no results, I visited a dermatologist who prescribed Lamasil which didn't help. Next, the dr.has prescribed C_Thymol 3% Chloroform to be applied at bedtime. I have been using it approx. 4 wks. and so far no positive results. Any suggestions on what to do next?
Thanks.

I used neat tea tree oil twice daily. It works. But I also experienced a slow delayed allergic reaction to it.
Also recomended is distilled cheap vinegar, every 12 hours, which i am now using. I know other people it has worked for. very cheap! and no allergic reaction, so far.

Frances, do you use the white vinegar? How long do you soak your nails in it? I will definately try it. Thanks for the suggestion.
