Folliculitis - STD?

by NickNick, Dec 28, 2004 12:00AM
I developed a rash of a number red like pimples that extended from my belly button to my penis, some were on my penis.  I went to the dr. and she said that it was folliculitis.  She prescribed an antibiotic and clindagel.  The rash went away but I developed a rash on my face and forehead that would appear after exercise and warm showers.  It would go away after about 20 minutes.  I became very nervous about HIV, so I had ELISA and HIV PCR tests that came back negative.  But I noticed that the original rash is coming back and my face and forehead burns when hot, either after exercise of hot showers.  Do you have any idea what this could be?

Not really, but it certainly doesn't sound like HIV.  It may well be more folliculitis.  Ask the doctor who checked you out the first time.  By the way, it's normal for the face to burn and feel hot after exercise.  I think you're worrying more than necessary.  If you're engaged in risky sexual behavior and that is triggering your worry, you may want to stop.

Best.
