Folliculitis or something else?

Folliculitis or something else?

4836802?1252034742
Last month, a few days after a (with protection) sexual encounter I began to experience pimples in the groin, in areas with hair.  The pimples cleared up, but several became boils, and so I saw a doctor.  The diagnosis was folliculitis, and so for about a week I treated with fucidin cream 2%, but given mixed results and the appearance of a few new pimples filled a second prescription and began treatment with Cephalexin 500 mg every six hours.  I am now four days into the ten-day course of antibiotics.  Whether due to the antibiotics or not, the pimples and boils have effectively cleared up (with the exception of one of the original four boils that is no longer uncomfortable and I am expecting will clear up soon enough), but I am now experiencing an itchy rash between my scrotum and the top of my thigh (worse on one side but present on both; there were no pimples or boils here earlier).  I have been treating it with the fucidin cream, but it has so far had little effect; I am also trying to keep the area clean and dry.  I am attaching a picture of this rash.  Does this look as if it would be related to the presumed folliculitis and that it will eventually clear with the continued course of antibiotics (which I know I should take regardless) and with the fucidin cream, or does it resemble something else?  I wonder if it might be jock itch and so best treated with an over-the-counter anti-fungal.  Or perhaps it is bacterial jock itch?  Thanks for any advice!

Hello,
From the symptoms the bumps look like folliculitis and boils but the itchy rash in groins sounds like fungal infection. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics and keep on using the antibiotics that your dermatologist has prescribed.

For the fungal infection, topical or oral antifungals are needed. Please get them prescribed from your dermatologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
