Folliculitis

About 3 Weeks ago, I noticed a few small clusters(Flea Bite Size) of bumps on my inner-thigh and going around up my buttocks, I waited to see if they go away thinking they were just bug bites and the itching became so unbearable I had to go to the ER, I also don't have insurance till January. The doctor diagnosed me with Folliculitis, I pointed out I had smaller red looking bumps around my belly button and over the top of my thighs. She told me it was the same rash, She put me on 2 medications Clindamycin and Bactrim DS tablets 800/160 twice a day. I'm not sure how long it takes to clear this up but it seems to be the same on my innerthighs and the red bumps are spreading around my entire body, I'm not sure if it's because I scratch and it spreads/irritated or because the medication isn't helping. It's been 4 days on Bactrim and Clindamycin

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to allergies, sweat dermatitis or scabies. Scabies is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I cant see the rash, so the best answer is to keep taking the meds until they are GONE. At 4 days, they are just beginning to take hold in your system. If your rash isn't better when you are finished with the meds, then until you have insurance, you might seek help at the Health Dept STD clinic who often sees people for free or for sliding scale.
