by pingo, Aug 20, 2008 01:20AM
Hi,
Ive been treating folliculitus (folliculitis) around genital area ,thighs and buttocks for about 3 - 4 weeks now

the hospitol doctor diagnosed me with folliculitus (folliculitis).. he prescribed me pills for 2 weeks,4 times a day.. the infection cleared up greatly.. but still itchy at times and still have bumps on my buttocks.. the hospitol doc also prescribed me a cream if neccessary.. i was told it was for inflamation (inflammation)... i applied it for a week then followed up with my family doc because the condition has been gettin better but not completely.. he said that i was prescribed the wrong cream .. so he then prescribed me a cream called bactoban..  i been applying it for about 1 week and the condition hasnt cleared up at all.. actually it seems as if im still infected.. randoms bumps and itches over my body..  I also have been applying penaten cream and petrolium jelly .. ... also i slight bump is raised on the top shaft of my penis... this is very annoying..

please reply with detailed info or advice .. thank you

Hi,

You should try local application of mupirocin or neomycin ointment and calamine lotion to help soothe the itching.

Keep the sites clean, maintain good personal hygiene, wear lose comfortable clothes (preferably washed in chlorhexidine and sun dried), and avoid razors for hair removal.

You should reconsult with your doctor and get a repeat examination done.

Let us know if you need any other information nad post us about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

Hello.. ive been back and forth form the doctors and its very annoying.. ive been keeping very clean.. I have stopped using the creams my doctor has prescribed me.. not sure if thats a great idea but it seems to be getting a little better.. besides the fact that i get itchy pimple like bumps in random places.. my hands.. elbows..waist line... arms... the only reason i stopped using the cream is because i was having a bad reaction to it.. it has been clearing up .. but still have pimple likes bumps on penis which i was told was caused by the infection... i finished the antibiotics.. which helped alot.. i dont know what do.. every time i go to the doctors.. he just prescribes me another cream.. seems as if hes not to sure what may help me..  i will follow up with him again .. i hope this doesnt last for much longer... im not too sure of what the signs of healing are.
