Follow up Question to 2-24-05

Hi Dr. Rockoff,

I posted here on 2-24-05 (Pimple / Wart / Molluscum Contagious). Well I drained the heck out of the bump, until
it tore off, even then I was getting some clear fluid out of the skin below. It was weird it would swell up every 5 mins
and i would drain some more until it was sucked dry. It eventually scabbed and I left it alone.  To my suprise a week
later a bump started appearing again, so I took your advice and saw Derm #2, he thought nothing of it, but recommended
a biopsy to easy by paranoid mind. Biopsy came negative, and said Inflammation.

This whole situation caused me to look at my penis little closer. I did and noticed something I have had for months to years, on the back side of my penis, right below or on the circumsion region. When the penis is in a normal state and shriveled it looks like a small dot, lighter in color than the surrounding penile skin. If you look closely you can see all the small cracks or dots in the penile skin, then this light colored dot. Kind of like 1 discolored hair follicle. However, when the penile skin is stretched it (the lesion at question) looks the same color as the skin when stretched, which is light, it blends in. When penile skin is shriveled or stretched, the lesion does not really look like a bump, but rather FLAT. It looks as though something blistered and came back down,this is very small, so you would have to look very very close to even notice that. It does not look like anything on top of the skin either. It looks waxy like, maybe b/c of the that skin area, it is waxy like too. Like i said before, I've had this for at the very least a year, and it has not grown or multiplied or anything. However, when I scrapped it off, it healed and it came back.

I showed the derm, and he said "doesnt look like a classical wart", "i am not sure", and he lasered it off. I called him back and asked him to clarify, he said he didnt think it was a wart and that he thought it might just be "benign growth" or "Seborrheic Keratosis".
I figure had this been a Genital wart, i would have at least a couple more in the last year (besides that scare i had about inflammation)?

My question to you is , are there normal variants on the penis? Could this be b/c of friction or damage I caused to the skin?
I once got a 'hand job (masterbation (masturbation))' from a girl who had a ring on, and it tore some skin on the penis, it was painful, but when it healed,
it was  not smooth, but rather shriveled looking. Could this be similar.

Yes, there are normal variants on the penis, usually small cysts.  The spot you describe was almost certainly one of these.  If you had to stretch the skin to see it, it wasn't a wart.  Your doctor probably just burned it off because he saw you were worried about it.

I think you would really be better off not looking so hard.

One last edit, when shriveled up it looks like a lighter skin colored "dot" , when stretched  its a little bigger than a dot of course, but its still small, and does not have any shape to it. Its NOT perfecttly circle or anything.

Thanks for your comments. I  was under the impression that cysts were always hard, and deep under the skin. This was closer to the top layer of the skin, but still underneat it, and when not stretched it would show a dot, and when stretched it would look flat or very slightly elevated if you really look.

the closest thing i found on the internet was something called porokeratosis i believe.

you think it could be anything else other than a cyst,b/c i've seen cysts and it didnt look like one.
